AUDIOSERVE

Self-hosted music streaming

AudioServe is available now on the App Store. It is a focused music player for your personal Plex music library: connect to your Plex account, choose your server, and enjoy your own collection anywhere without subscriptions, adverts, or recommendations getting in the way.

01

Download AudioServe

AudioServe is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Install it from the App Store, then open the app to connect it to your Plex music library.

02

Connect Plex

AudioServe connects directly to your Plex music library. Before signing in, make sure that Plex Media Server is running and that your music collection has been added to Plex as a music library.

  1. Download AudioServe from the App Store and open the app.
  2. Sign in with your Plex account.
  3. Choose the Plex server that holds your music library.
  4. Select your music library if your server contains more than one.
  5. Allow the app a moment to load your albums, artists, playlists, and tracks.

For listening away from home, remote access must be enabled on your Plex Media Server.

03

Home

The Home area is your starting point. Use it to return quickly to your music collection and pick up where you left off. It provides a simple route into the music you are most likely to want without filling the screen with distractions.

04

Your Library

Browse the music stored on your Plex server by artist, album, playlist, or track. Select an artist to explore their albums, open an album to view its track list, or choose a playlist to see the tracks you have already grouped together in Plex.

Tap a track to begin listening. AudioServe streams the original library from your server, so changes you make to your Plex music collection will also appear in the app.

06

Now Playing

The Now Playing screen keeps the essential controls close at hand. Pause or resume playback, move between tracks, and use the progress bar to move through the current song. The current artwork and track details show what is playing from your library.

07

Playback State

AudioServe stores playback state locally on your device. This allows the app to remember your listening position and resume naturally when you return. This information stays separate from the media stored on your Plex server.

08

Settings

Use Settings to review your current Plex connection, switch server or music library when needed, and manage the app preferences available on your device. If your library changes substantially, reconnecting or refreshing from Settings can help load the latest content.

09

Troubleshooting

My server is not listed

Confirm that Plex Media Server is running and that you are signed in with the Plex account that has access to it. If you are away from home, check that Plex remote access is enabled.

My music library is missing or out of date

Check that your music has been scanned into a Plex music library, then refresh the library in Plex. Return to AudioServe and reconnect or refresh if needed.

Playback stops or will not begin

Confirm that your device has a working network connection and that your Plex server is reachable. Remote playback quality can depend on your server connection as well as your current mobile or Wi-Fi connection.
